Description:
Adventure Diver sits between Open Water and Advanced Open Water. The dives are identical. Only the count changes. You pick three from the specialty menu and complete them with an instructor, building real-world experience in styles of diving you haven't tried yet. Options include digital underwater photography, dry suit, fish identification, peak performance buoyancy, deep, navigation, night, and wreck — the local dive shop's schedule decides which are on offer where you are.
Credit carries forward in two directions. First: each Adventure Dive may count as dive one of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course, so the work isn't wasted if you later decide to specialise. Second: the rating banks toward Advanced Open Water. Finish two more dives later, including the two required ones (Deep and Navigation), and you earn AOW. That makes Adventure Diver a low-friction way to start. Easy upgrade later.
Open to PADI Junior Open Water Divers and Open Water Divers aged 10 and up. Younger divers are limited on which Adventure Dives they can take, since some carry stricter age or depth restrictions than others. The instructor signs off on which dives are allowed before you start. No fixed duration. Most candidates finish over a long weekend.
